There is no mention of the big issue in the Town: Cllr. Humphrey’s pay increase and undemocratic assumption of politically restricted powers. This is what people are talkiing about in the election. Besides, education and transport are County Council issues; this is a Borough Council election.
We did not want to dwell on Cllr Humphrey, as we were not intending to be drawn into what might be seen as a personal or negative campaign.
While education and transport are mainly under County control, the Borough does have some influence and some powers. Local councillors are also able to lobby.
